Todd Sloane
Todd Sloane - Artist Biography
Todd was born in 1961 in Alberta, Canada, and grew up faithfully watching every Saturday afternoon sci-fi matinee on his parent’s 3-channel, 24” TV. From an early age, he was collecting all the sci-fi comic books and tin toys he could get his hands on – a collection that continues to grow to this day. His impressive collection of 50’s and 60’s pieces range from robots, ray guns, and UFOs to airplanes and motor vehicles.
After attending the Alberta College of Art + Design, Todd rose in rank to senior creative director. In 1991, he started his own ad agency, Tag Advertising – a full-service advertising agency, now running 25 years strong. His creative branding style has not only attracted the attention of several regional and international clients, but also awarded him the Western Canadian Entrepreneur of the Year.
In 2013, Todd’s passion for sci-fi, and industrial design came together to influence what is now known as “VogueBots” using an assemblage of vintage technology, such as typewriters, house-hold items, musical instruments, radio and TV parts. His first exhibition took place in October of 2016, which was met with praise from both art collectors and the design community, landing him on the Local, National and International Stage.
When he’s not creating, Todd is hunting for the next big piece to feature in his sculptures or adding to his tin-toy collection.
