“I often think of the landscape as an untethered presence, wild and unrestrained. In the piece titled ‘Spirit of Night II’ (oil on canvas, 48x60) the house remains grounded and solid while the environment moves, changes and shifts around it. The other painting in this group show showcase the opposite. In ‘Canoe and Lily Pads I’ (oil on canvas, 48x60), a canoe floats quietly and mysteriously amidst a sea of lily pads and flowers. The canoe is literally untethered and blends more readily with its environment, becoming one with the wild landscape. The smaller pieces echo this concept.”
